Raymond Central: we can do it

I make a difference

No particular order, just thought as I think of stuff.

==============

the 2007 Kids Task Force used school funds to mail out surveys that were for a citizens group. this is not allowed as I understand the rules.

==================

Why did taxpayers spend $175,000 to construct a bus maintenance facility, then as soon as it was done eliminate the bus mechanics position? Patrons pay for heat and utilities for a building used to store junk while bus repair is farmed out. This is poor management and unwise use of tax dollars.

======================

Why does the superintendent at RC schools reside outside the district?

=================

Why is the access road 11 feet wider than the Agnew road?

===================

A new washing machine was purchased in 2008 for the FCS classroom. Why was a water conserving model not purchased instead of the obsolete technology?

=================

for summer of 2008 a roofing project was approved. the details of the bidding were unusual, the supt cited the project was an *emergency* so the board approved the expenditure. There was no building permit issued for this project. This appears to be fishy.

=================

Why was I and 2 other patrons asked to leave a meeting advertised as a "public Informational Meeting", and we were not welcome to have information distributed at the meeting?

===============

why the lack of planning before presenting a plan to the public? specifically patrons are told the plans presented are what the project *might* look like, and it will change after the bond is passed. I thought the reason we spent so much time planning was so we knew exactly what we are getting for our multi-Million dollar expenditure. This approach makes me very uneasy along with many other residents.

From the Thursday, October 16, 2008 Waverly news:

"What these sketches are for is to help us visualize and identify the square footage of spaces we need to include for budget purposes," Johnson said. "Neither one of these plans would be exactly what the building would end up looking like.” He added that they are unable to fully design and engineer a plan unless DLR Group got paid to do so. DLR Group is not receiving any payment by the school district for the work Johnson has done.

[district resident Mark] Rezac brought up another concern after hearing Johnson's comments. "People want it black and white, that this is what it's going to be," he said.

=====================

DLR has stated many times it has not received payment for any work done before the bond issue is passed. According to a report in the Waverly news DLR has in fact been paid at least $12,000 by the school district. Why are district patrons being misled on this?

see thursday feb 21 Waverly news

================

Why do we need to use a portion of our construction budget to repair a HVAC system installed in 2004 at a cost to district taxpayers of $1.2 million dollars? The bond is not even close to being paid off. Why was the work done substandard and not according to building codes in effect at the time of installation? Why was the contractor paid without an final inspection of the system by a qualified professional? Why was the system designed with an undersized chiller requiring draining of the system in cold weather instead of having capacity to use anti-freeze?

=======================

After explaining the air conditioning installation that did not meet the proper building code why did DLR architect Curtis Johnson request waverly news reporter Joe evans withold this information from news reports?

===================

Why was only 1 district patron along with non resident superintendant Paul Hull and DLR architect allowed to develop the current plan that is being presented to voters?

==============

Why did a citizens group need to be activated by the board in 2008, but was not activated for the current project?
