Raymond Central: we can do it

I make a difference

Its Emotion vs Common sense again

I certainly disagree with another attempt at what has been rejected already by voters

I do not understand why I should have to fight anybody to get the job done right

Insanity = Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result

Same plan
Same architect
Same problems
Same lack of common sense

I guess I can't call this one a Pig with lipstick because that ruffled some peoples feathers. Strike three your out maybe? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH perhaps? I see the coverage on the channel 8 website refers to "3rd times a charm". I think strike 3 you are out is better. we need to move ahead using real common sense solving the real problems without all the emotion.

Why would you attempt the same thing that so many folks that WOULD support a reasonable plan didn't vote for the past 2 times? Wouldn't it be reasonable to make changes so everyone could work together?

Lets review this.

The Task Force decided the school district needed a 16.3M bond issue for improvements in 2007. this included a competition gym, plus 70,000 additional sq feet of space, this included removal of all the 50 year old BARRACKS buildings from the former Nike missile base.

Voters rejected the idea

Then comes the slanted and misleading survey of district patrons.

HERE is a transcript of the questions . These are the actual questions and answers from the call I took at my home.

here are some good ones:

"Would you support or oppose relocating the junior senior high school?

I would strongly oppose that. I would work hard to... Well, that wouldn’t pass in this district so I guess I wouldn’t have to worry about it. But I would oppose that."

the only way the high school could be moved is if it is on Indian Burial Grounds. I don't think it is. Taxpayers have sacrificed for years to pay for building and operating the school. Now we would relocate it to where? Very unrealistic

"A safety concern exists for these students who must drive to school early in the morning or late at night because of the need to share gym space for so many activities. Would that make you more or less likely to vote for a bond issue?

That would make me less likely".

I am all for safety, but a check of the schedule shows nothing is scheduled in the morning, or late at night.

totally misleading and a trick question. Like asking if you still beat your dog. the only purpose would be to slant the survey

Here is a good one:

"If classrooms were added to the elementary school to make room for mandated programs like all day kindergarten and special education would that make you more or less likely to vote for a bond issue?

Less likely"

WOW, we have had all day kindergarten for many years.

The questions on the survey were completely misleading and only can serve one purpose. to encourage the board to send a bond issue to taxpayers in hopes of the financial agent making a huge commission. The financial agent paid for part of the cost of this survey.

then part 2. The task force again. with an official motion and vote the board activated the task force..

I questioned why this would be necessary with a citizens group. No one could give me a answer. I suspect something under the table. wonder what happened? The motion to activate the force never happened for round 3. Hmm, so is it actually invalid, or was #2 an under the table cover up? Seems fishy to me

So I sit thru many meetings, unable to overcome the emotion with common sense.

its voted down. in march

Next thing I know we have a plant o proceed again. I find out this is put together by a single district resident, the new superintendent, and the previous architect, DLR. WOW its the same thing we just voted down.

Why would anyone change their mind? its the same. Lacks common sense.

same old BARRACKS, same old thing , no remodel on the existing buildings on the west.

Total cost is 16-17 million after 20-23 years of interest. we don't even know yet. initial cost 10 million not including GEO thermal. like buying a car w no tires

I don't get it.

Until we can use a common sense approach to solving the real problems I won't be able to support this, and I question many of the expenditures the board is making.

To get something you never had you have to do something you never did
